Vision Statement
The Robert Seiden School of Jewish Studies at Temple Sinai seeks to nurture a commitment to Judaism through the exploration of three fundamental questions:
- How can God be experienced in the world?
- How is Jewish practice relevant to our lives?
- How can we use Torah to understand the traditions of our people while addressing issues in the contemporary world?
Mission Statement
The mission of the Robert Seiden School of Jewish Studies program is to:
- Provide a foundation of JEWISH LITERACY through the study of classical Jewish texts, Hebrew language, religious and personal rituals, Jewish traditions and history.
- Embrace the spiritual experience and connection to God through TEFILLAH *.
- Foster positive SOCIAL EXPERIENCES based on trust, respect, love and joy for individuals and the community.
- Instill a strong commitment to social, economic and legal JUSTICE and TIKKUN OLAM* through community involvement and TZEDAKAH*.
- Strengthen the bond to the STATE OF ISRAEL and its people.
- Foster FAMILY INVOLVEMENT, participation and celebration of Jewish learning and traditions at home.
- Strengthen responsible and thoughtful RELIGIOUS and ETHICAL CHOICES based on knowledge of Jewish values, traditions and history.
