“October 8” Film Screening and Program
Temple Sinai strives to create a safe space in our diverse community to share and respect various perspectives on the conflict(s) in Israel and the alarming rise in antisemitism and anti-Zionism. As a part of this desire to promote ongoing dialogue, we will be screening the film “October 8.” This will be the first in an ongoing series of films and discussions on this complicated topic.
For this screening, we welcome congregants and their families ages 13 and up, guests, and community members. Following the screening, we will hold a professionally facilitated discussion and Q&A session. A light dinner will be served.
The schedule is as follows:
4:00 – 6:00 pm welcome and screening
6:00 – 7:30 pm (approximately) light dinner, discussion, and Q&A with our guest speaker, Dr. Gary Katz, Cal State Northridge Associate Professor of Psychology.
We hope this program will be particularly helpful to those with college-bound and college-aged children, friends, and relatives. As always, we are aware that not all congregants will share all the views expressed in the film. Our intention is to create a supportive environment for all viewers.
All are encouraged to join us for this event and subsequent documentary screenings, programs, and speakers on Israel and antisemitism that will follow at TSG. We also encourage everyone to consider joining our Israel Affinity Group, led by congregant Heather Halperin, LCSW, and Rabbi Rick Schechter.
Please contact for information.
